Quantaray lens compatability on the 300D?

Do Quantaray lenses accept any lens compatability bug on the 300D (Err99)as do some Sigma lenses? I realize that Sigma(and Tamron) make Quantaray lenses.

I have the opprotunity to buy one from ebay, but there is no render option if it doesn't role(at all apertures), nor does the seller know of the compatability issue.
I demand your aid fast. Borderline is in a couple hours.
Thank you so much. (Also posted on Catechism lens forum.)

Re: Quantaray lens compatability on the 300D?

Quantaray is the Ritz house brand. I was under the impression they were made by Cosina simply I may be incorrect. In whatever case, all third party lenses have the potential for incompatability but Sigma seems to suffer the well-nigh. They do fix it for costless then its not a big deal. Phone call Quantaray and see if they do the same. Personally, I'd avoid Quantaray for other reasons and look for a better quality lens.

Re: Quantaray lens compatability on the 300D?

I've never owned a quantaray, just I've read posts by others that they got err99s. I would too avert quantaray. I have no problems with third party lenses, but getting a cheap oem version of an inexpensive lens - I'd worry about service and back up issues. Information technology'south non only warranty - but who looks afterwards it in 5 years if it fails? I dropped my Sigma 70-300 APO a while ago, and got it repaired (inexpensive repair, good service, fast turnaround). Stick with the Sigma (or Tamron) version.

Re: Quantaray lens compatability on the 300D?

most Quantaray lenses are pretty inexpensive ($ wise) to brainstorm with... all I can say is that I tried two Quantarays (55-200mm & lxx-300mm) and boy was I glad I had thirty day to render. For me information technology just wasn't worth information technology. Both lenses were soft and focus was an issue too.

Re: Quantaray lens compatability on the 300D?

From my understanding sigma does make these lenses for Ritz Photographic camera. I take purchased sigma lenses without any probems. I have not tried the Quantaray lenses merely I have been looking at them, if I do though, I will buy it from Ritz Photographic camera.

Different Viewpoint

My suggestion would be to effort out, if possible, any lens you may want to purchase. My married woman gave me a Rebel XT for male parent's day, along with a Quantaray 70-300 zoom. I was pleased with the shots with the Quantaray but after 29 days I returned it. Ordered a Sigma 70-300 APO and after merely a few days I sent it back. Information technology hunted more while focusing, was noisier, and was not any better at the long terminate and so the Quantaray. Now granted, I may accept gotten a "bad" one but I went dorsum to the Quantaray anyway. The current Quantaray lxx-300 is a Tamron in disguise w/the same specs every bit the current Tamron 70-300 and a five year warranty. All iii, Sigma, Tamron, and Quantaray, are adequately inexpenisve and you go what you lot pay for. Over again, it possible, try out for a few days whatsoever lens. Shoot everything with it for a few days, short-range, long-range, macro, sunlight, depression-calorie-free, etc and then Y'all gauge what yous like.

Re: Dissimilar Viewpoint

Popster,

Certainly good advice there.

Past the fashion, I have a Tamron70-300 LD 1:two Macro, and experience that it does a really good job for my purposes.

Re: Quantaray lens compatability on the 300D?

Looking at the specs, I'm adequately certain that the Quantaray 70-300 is now a Tamron.

Quantaray or Sigma 24mm

Some older Quantaray lenses were pretty expert. The 24mm f/2.8 is identical in appearance to the Sigma version physically, and so there can exist little doubtfulness that they were made by Sigma.

I used to have a Quantaray 24mm when I used Nikons, and it was a very good lens.

I tried the Sigma 24mm on my D Rebel in a store, and information technology gave Mistake 99. Sigma volition non re-scrap this lens -- they but do that with more recent ones.

I saw somebody offering the Canon version of the Quantaray 24mm on eBay, and he insisted information technology was compatible with DSLRs. Whether it was truthful or not, I tin't say.

Re: Different Viewpoint

Ritz told me that they are Sigma with their name brand on it instead, I have owned two Quantaray seventy-300mm one for my minolta SLR and 1 on my 300D and never had a problem, but I can tell that the 300D model is much amend built then the Minolta model even though it is the same lens, they must take improved over the by couple of years.
