1. Name Your Blog

The first thing to do when you start a beauty blog is to name it! You need to come up with a unique, memorable name that will stand out and help you to gain followers. Following are some words which might spark an idea in your mind:

You will need to mix and match a selection of words to come up with a name that hasn't been taken already. Once you have a list of potential names, type them into the domain search bar below to check if the domain is available (you can get your domain for free if you start your WordPress blog with Bluehost)

When you click the green 'check availability' button above, it will either let you know that the domain name isn't available, OR it will let you know it is available and ready for you to take!

If your desired domain name is available, get it as soon as you can !

When you get your domain through Bluehost above, you are purchasing a hosting package which comes with the domain for free, so you don't have to purchase a domain separately anywhere else and everything will be connected for you. Your "hosting" package (in this case, from Bluehost) is what makes your new "domain" (yourblog.com) appear live online.

More and more domains are being snapped up every day (people even buy them just to re-sell) so if you can get your domain, snap it up before someone else does.

Once you have your hosting and domain through Bluehost, that's where you can easily install WordPress to your hosting account and start your blog.

2. Choose A Platform

If you want to start a successful beauty blog, I highly recommend starting a self-hosted WordPress blog. You will need an amazing blog theme where you can have "shop the post" widgets, ads, shopping pages and beautiful large images.

If you go with a free blogging site, you'll be very restricted in terms of how it looks, what you can do with it and its Google rankings. I originally started my fashion blog with Blogger and it never looked good or did as well until I moved to WordPress – I regret not doing it sooner! Make sure you start with WordPress from the beginning.

3. Install A Theme

If you start a WordPress blog, you're very lucky because the best blog themes are WordPress ones! There are so many beautiful blog themes that will make your fashion blog shine. I've searched around to find the very best themes for fashion blogs so the work is done for you!

The best theme to start off with is one of my own – Valentina. If you're just getting into WordPress, you should want your blog to look professional yet be easy to run and change things yourself.

When choosing a blog theme, choose one that has a layout that will make your content look good. Don't get caught up in the photos that have been used in the demo. Try to imagine your photos in the theme, your blog posts and your writing.

Pages To Set Up

Once you have purchased and installed your new theme, you will need to set up your pages and menu. A beauty blog should always have:

About Page – Set up your About page so your followers can get to know the person behind the blog!
Shop Page – Use this page to add a big product widget (see below) so you can earn money from your readers shopping your favorite items
Contact Page – so brands and businesses can contact you about collaborations and PR packages

4. Create Your Brand
